Out of Town Groomsmen

a common wedding scenario...

Your wedding will be held in your home town. A couple of your groomsmen live in other states. They are unable to travel to the Jim's Formal Wear Retailer who is handling the tuxedos for your wedding to be measured. How do they get measured for their tuxedo if they are arriving the day before the wedding?

Not to worry. You can solve this problem by downloading the Out-of-Town Groomsmen Measurement Form. Use the form as a tool to collect all of the needed tux measurements for the gentlemen who are too far from your chosen Jim's Formal Wear Retailer to be measured.

Out of Town Groomsmen

gather groomsmen measurements with a simple form!

Follow these simple steps to collect your gentlemen's measurements:

Download a measurement form

A quick way to share a copy of the form with your groomsmen is to send them a link to this webpage. They can visit the page themselves and download and print a copy to have in hand.

If you have a groomsman who does not have access to the Internet, you can download and print a copy of the form and drop it in the mail.

Consider downloading a copy of the form yourself, so you may become aware of the measurements needed for a tuxedo order.

Get measured

Have your gentlemen visit a participating Jim's Formal Wear Retailer to get measured - there are 5,000 Authorized JFW Retailers nationwide - six times the number of any other tuxedo rental source!

If a JFW Retailer is not close, a professional tailor or menswear shop is a good alternative and their store staff will likely be skilled in taking measurements.

Submit your measurements

Once your gentlemen have their measurements taken and the form has been completed, have them send the measurement form to your chosen Jim's Retailer that is handling your wedding in whatever method that is convenient - a phone call, an email, a text message, etc. The men will likely need to submit a payment to the retailer at the same time.

Measurements should be submitted at least four to six weeks before your formal affair. Your JFW Retailer will pick up the tuxedo ordering process from here!

Try on your tuxedo

Once your gentlemen get into town the week of the wedding, have them promptly visit your local Jim's Formal Wear Retailer to try on the tuxedos. Our retailers will want to make sure the tuxedo fits perfectly!

If your guys won't arrive in town until last minute, no problem! We can ship the tuxedos directly to your out-of-town groomsman's home or office, so he can try it on before traveling to your wedding. Just ask about our TuxDirect program.

If any issues arise, your JFW Retailer will be able to handle any last minute alterations or changes before your wedding.

Essential Tips for Success:

  • Do not try to take measurements yourself! An inaccurate measurement that may be off by only an inch may get you a tuxedo coat that's one or two sizes too big or small. For the best fit, it is imperative that an experienced professional take your measurements.
  • Direct your gentlemen to visit an Authorized Jim's Formal Wear Retailer to have measurements taken. These stores have been trained to measure properly to ensure a great fitting tuxedo. If a JFW Retailer is not close, a professional tailor or menswear shop is certainly a good alternative. (Please be aware that some retailers may charge a small fee for measurement services).
  • Current measurements are the most accurate! Even though a gentleman may have been measured for a tuxedo recently, measurements can and do change. It's wise to be measured again.
